I had decided I would surprise Kiffie by first calling her and asking how her day was going so far, and then as I was talking to her, knock on the door and surprise her. And luckily I was able to do just that. We talked, on the phone, for a couple of minutes then *knock knock*. I could hear her say over the phone, and from outside the door, "Mom, someones at the door." And I could hear Diane asking her to get it, she was doing something.... The look of total surprise and sheer happiness still brings tears to my eyes. "AUNT KARI!" From the couch I could see my other niece, Kailey, pop her head up. It was a surprise to her too. My only regret is that I didn't get a picture or video of me surprising her, but it's not something I'm going to forget anytime soon.
It was a wonderful day spent catching up, laughing, hugging and playing. I was not only able to spend time with my parents, sisters and nieces, I also visited a couple of friends who lived nearby. They were surprised to see us too!
