Can you believe that school is just a few short days away? August 13th. And then not long after that, Kevin and I both start school again, August 25th. Our Summer days are numbered. So when Kevin's Dad invited us over for a cookout, and for Arianna to have a camp out with one of her friends, we happily accepted.
Kevin's parents are divorced, and while his Mom is
comfortable with keeping Sarah overnight, his Dad is not. Which is
fine, because
I wasn't comfortable with the thought of my 3 year
old sleeping outside in a tent with two 11 year olds, lol (his Dad slept
in the living room).
So Summer 2014 is almost officially over. And boy, was it a mixture of ups and downs.
Going to Cedar Point and having fun. The girls staying the night at
their Grandma's house and having fun over there. I'm so glad that not
only did Kevin and I get to build memories, but their Grandma (and
Great Grandma) did as well. Kevin and I found out that a local movie theater has tickets that are only $4.50, so we saw a lot of movies together over the summer.
Of course though, Summer wasn't
all great. Losing my oldest
sister was a punch to the gut. I never saw it coming. But while it was
the hardest thing I've dealt with, it was also amazing to see the show
of love and support from friends and follow family. I miss her so much
daily. So many things remind me of her, or old songs. It's hard to
listen to the 80's station on my Pandora, because so many songs on there
I can hear Liz singing along (off key, of course) to in the car, when
she and I would go places. It's been so hard. She is missed (and
loved) maybe more than she ever knew.
And then, August 2nd, Kevin and I got back together. And we're even better than before. Sometimes you have to lose something before you realize what you had.
Heres hoping that next Summer is even better than this one.
